In order to make an offering to Idunna for yourself or a loved one, first pour yourself a horn (or glass) of mead or other beverage and say:
“Idunna, goddess of the sacred apples, hail!
Goddess of rejuvenation and rebirth, hail!
Gentle goddess of nurturing and growth, hail!
Goddess of youth, vitality, and health, hail!
Hail, Idunna!”
Drink some of the mead or beverage and pour some out into the bowl for Idunna to request the energy and inner strength to recover from something that you need through this offering. Light the candle and say:
“Idunna, goddess of the apples of eternal youth
Gentle goddess of vitality and rejuvenation,
I call upon you to help me heal and recover
From that which has been taxing upon me
That which has left me struggling to continue on
I ask that you grant me the inner healing
As well as rejuvenation for my head, heart, and body
So that I may continue refreshed
As if I had a taste of one of your sacred apples.
Hail, Idunna!”
Order or cook yourself a special meal. Give some of your food and drink to Idunna with the thought of giving to her a gift for a gift. Throughout the meal, think of how, after a long and trying ordeal, someone might call upon her to help them recover from their previous challenges and rejuvenate themselves afterwards.
Mentally reach back to those ancestors—whether of your flesh and blood or those who have also done as you are doing by making an offering. Imagine yourself as a warrior recovering from a battle, or a farmer after a grueling day of work, each calling upon Idunna to bring them the sustenance of fresh food that not only feeds the body, but soothes the soul as they relax and start to heal from the physical and mental stresses they faced while you imagine sharing this meal with her, your drink with her, and each other’s presence. Pour some more mead or other beverage in a final simple thank you to Idunna and say:
“Spirits of the orchard, spirits of plants of field, trees of the forest, spirits of mountain, sky, ancestors of old and to the goddess, Idunna: Accept this offering, my gift unto you.”
